The mailboxes are filling up with Christmas cards full of pictures, well wishes, and updates on families. Here in the Platt household we thought it might be fun to fill our card with silly stories...or some might say fibs. With the help of Chandler and Michelle Lasch we sent out a very funny and hopefully not offensive card which lead you to my blog where I would have the real update.
2009 has been full of lots of changes.
Darrenn is still at McAuliffe Middle School but is now teaching US History and one period of PE. He misses being a Learning Specialist but is loving being back in the classroom where he has a captive audience of 8th graders that laugh at his jokes and put up with his interesting accents. He still leads the middle school group at Revolution Church and loves watching them grow in their relationship with Christ. If Darrenn isn't helping keep my head above water, hanging out with Dylan, or having tea parties with Emma you will find him trying to catch up with life or falling asleep while trying to watch tv.
Dylan is 14 and in High School! He is attending Los Alamitos High and has amazing teachers who are challenging him in many different areas. He loves his Media Arts class where he gets to work on a beautiful Mac computer creating videos, art work and so much more. When Dylan isn't doing homework he is either reading, listening to music, drawing, playing on his laptop, going to Rev X (hight school youth group) or teaching us more Disney trivia. He is an amazing big brother. He is always willing to watch Emma, play with her, or watch one of her favorite shows.
Emma is 2 1/2 and is growing into such a big girl. She loves playing with her babies, doing projects, cooking, or watching her shows. Emma spends two days a week at Nana Karen's house where she is learning so much and gets to play with one of her best friends, Ainsley. She also took her first ballet class and princess class. She loves going to Disneyland once a week with her other bestie, Malia. Lori and I love watching our girls grow up together and love chit chatting in line while they decide which ride will be next.
I am still working at Revolution Church as the Children's Director. God has pushed me out of many of my comfort zones this year, which isn't always easy. I applied for our church to be a beta test church for a new curriculum called, Tru, and we got chosen. It is amazing watching our kids learn so much more about Jesus. I love this curriculum! I also love being a mom to two amazing kids. You can usually find me trying to keep up with life, reading blogs, watching my favorite shows, being annoyed by the braces I now have, spending time with family and friends, or ignoring the dog hair that piles up way too fast!
The biggest change of 2009 is my growing stomach. If you haven't heard we are expecting a little boy in April 2010. God sure does have a sense of humor. After many years of trying to have more kids and thinking Emma was our miracle He has surprised us with one more. We still don't know where he will sleep or what we will wear, we have a lot of pink clothes, we couldn't be happier to raise another miracle.
We are so thankful for all the blessings that God has given us this year. It is so easy to get caught up with the stresses of everyday life but we hope you all take some time this season to remember Christs' birthday.
Merry Christmas,
Love Darrenn, Jenny, Dylan, Emma, and Baby Boy?
Thanks for the update. We love and miss you!!!
