I will so be there with my sister and her friend Allison.  Is anyone else interested? 
This will be the perfect pre-birthday celebration.  I am already practicing my dance moves and singing their songs. 

My sister got to see a preview of them in concert at the House of Blues in LA.  I am so jealous.  She was in the second row with a bunch of crazy fans.  She said they were great. 

Tickets go on sale on June 9th.  I wish I had an American Express card so I could buy them on the 2nd.  Hmm, I wonder if Darrenn would mind another credit card, it is NKOTB!

Sweet Endings

I have a bad habit of wanting a sweet treat after every meal.  This is frustrating sometimes when I either don't have a sweet treat in my house that I like or I know that my hips don't need me to intake any more calories for the day. 

It is Saturday and Emma and I are home alone.  She is sleeping and I just finished a gross Marie Calendar frozen entree.  I now have a huge need for a sweet treat.  Childhood memories came flooding my mine earlier today when I was thinking of past friendships and how much they meant to me.  One of these special friendships was with my childhood best friend Jennifer Manley.  In honor of her I am going to head into the kitchen and make one of our favorite after school snacks.  Flour tortillas, covered in butter, cooked on the stovetop and covered in cinnamon and powered sugar. 

I better hurry I think I hear Emma waking up!

Love and Hate Relationship

It is 11pm on a Friday night and I am working...these are the moments I hate my job.  Not only is it late but I am doing my volunteer schedules for the next three months.  This is my least favorite thing to do.  It's stressful to try and schedule spouses on the same weekends, plan around vacations, five week months, not enough volunteers, and my husband having to be scheduled every week which means no summer vacations for us.  These are the moments I understand why I have to get my hair colored more often than I did three years ago. 

On the flip side when I look at the names of the amazing volunteers God has provided I am humbled that they take time away from their families and their busy lives to help change kids lives.  I am reminded of the volunteers that are always telling me that they will step in when I'm in a pinch, the ones that have been helping with our kids since before I came on staff and have never taken a break!  I love these people. 

I am constantly repeating different verses in the bible when I find myself frustrated.  Tonight it is, "And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:19

The next time you are looking for something to pray for add my volunteers to your list.  Pray for the ones that I already have that they would continue to be energized and excited to be changing kids lives.  Pray for the ones that God is going to send to fill in all the empty spots.  Pray that He will send people who have a love for kids and what to make a difference in their lives. 

Emma's Tenth and Eleventh Month

 
I am cheating a bit and combining two months.  I can't seem to find one of Emma's bunny pics so instead of crying about it I decided to move on and use a great picture Michelle Lasch took of Emma and her bunny.


Emma had been busy crawling around everywhere.  She isn't close to walking yet.  She likes to pull herself up on things and walking around that way.  She also loves to eat.  She loves puffs, Kix, avocado, bananas, green beans, almost anything you put on her tray.  Since Emma has had allergic reactions to some things we have to be careful and introduce very slowly.  This is a bit frustrating but I guess she has the rest of her life to try new things.  Emma loves to say, "Hi" to anything and anyone.  She also says, "Dog, Dadda, Momma".  She is trying very hard to say, "Dylan".  Since he is her favorite person she makes the DA sound over and over.  We've been busy doing life.  Emma likes playing with friends when they visit, in the nursery, and at Gymboree.  She has been sick a lot the last couple of months between bladder infections, runny noses, coughs, teething.  It's funny how you can go from only visiting the doctor for well visits to visiting every other week to make sure she is ok to be around her friends.  Emma also has had fun playing with Waverly and Emerson.  They get to hang out at our house on Wednesdays each week and Emma can't get enough of them.  We feel so blessed to have so many amazing people in Emma's life.
