Once upon a time a girl named Jenny dreamed of having a family filled with kids that she could teach things to, play with, and love with all of her heart. She met a boy named Darrenn, they got married, and started their family with an amazing son named Dylan. Her dream of a big family began to fade as the years went along. But God is faithful and He truly does give you your hearts desire. On May 3rd Emma Elizabeth joined our family.
I found out on April 30th that I would be induced on May 3rd. I was dilated and effaced and very nervous.
We arrived at the hospital at 6am. They started my IV's at around 7:30am. Then the waiting game began. My amazing doctor got held up so my water did not get broken until 4:30pm. By this point I was doing ok because I was given an epidural earlier in the day. I quickly dilated from 6 to 10 within 1 1/2 hours. The pushing started at 6pm with the help of Darrenn(my water boy), Nicol(my cheerleader), Dr. Rickard, an a couple of caring nurses. I only pushed for 30 minutes (Dylan was 2 1/2 hours) and out came little miss Emma. She was bigger than everyone had guessed, with long fingers and toes, and a little red and swollen. We stayed in the hospital until Saturday. So many friends came to meet her. Her big brother Dylan was the first to get to come in and meet his new little sister.
When we arrived home Emma fit right into the business of our house. Daddy had a lot happening at work with State Testing, Big Brother had school, testing, homework and playing with friends. Emma and I got acquainted with each other during some sleepless nights. The phone rang a lot with well wishers, the door bell rang with visitors, presents, and yummy meals.
Our house will never be the same and I am so happy about that. I have prayed, waited, prayed some more, and waited a bit more for this little girl. I am enjoying every dirty diaper, midnight feeding, cuddle time on the couch, walks around the block, and so much more. Things that mattered so much two weeks ago now seem silly because I now have two beautiful children that God has blessed Darrenn and I with.
