Family Movie Night

This Friday, February 2nd we will be having our first Family Movie Night at Revolution.  It should be a great night.  We will be viewing Disney's "Monsters Inc.", eating snacks, making a craft, playing a game, and having fun hanging out.  It's not too late to buy a ticket.  The event is 6:30-9pm at the HUB.  A combo ticket is $5(two people) and each additional ticket is $3.  If you would like to attend the event leave me a comment.

Sunday morning I got to talk to all the grown ups in "Big Church" about our growth in Kid's Ministry.  We are adding a new class on Sunday mornings.  Our early childhood will be birth-1yr, 2yr-3yr, 4yr-K, and our elementary will continue to be 1st-5th grade.  This is super exciting for me.  Our classes are pretty crowded which makes it harder to care and love on our kids.  This will also give us more room for all the new families that check out Revolution.  We are going to be starting a new curriculum in our 4yr-K class called 'lil K.  It is DVD driven, you can check it out at kidmo.com.  It is really fun.

So, new classes mean new volunteers.  I let the grown ups know that we need some new volunteers and gave them the opportunity to come out to our "tree" on the patio.  At our tree we had all the available serving opportunities and information about each class.  We also passed out yummy suckers to everyone as they entered church.  We had about 7 people come to the tree who seemed interested in volunteering.  That was an answer to prayer.   We still need a lot more but I am believing that God will provide.

Bobby made an awesome video interviewing some of our current volunteers.  It turned out great!  My favorite part is at the end when Elsie Clark says, "Will you come and play with us in the nursery".  The video makes me tear up every time I watch it.  I love the kids at Revolution and love all my volunteers.  I feel so grateful each week watching them love on our kids.  They make my job so much easier.

MLK Day is the best!

I love having random Monday's off where you can do whatever you want with your family.  Whenever one of these days is approaching Darrenn and I start to think of a plan for the day.  We started with Universal Studios which got nixed due to me being pregnant and I wouldn't be able to ride anything, Disneyland where I didn't feel like being outside all day...it's cold here right now, then laying around in our pj's all day which didn't sound good to Dylan and finally a movie and shopping.  Well our day together as a family ended up looking very different then originally planned.  Dylan and Darrenn joined my mom and dad at the Irvine Spectrum to walk around and see "Night at the Museum" and I planned on shopping alone at the Mission Viejo Mall.  I didn't want to go to the Spectrum because we did that over Christmas vacation.  So as I was preparing to go shopping (looking for the right outfit) I ended up talking to Angelina who said she would love to join me!  Yeah now I have a partner in crime! 

We headed down south and ate at Peiwei (it was soooo yummy) then continued to the mall.  It was fun walking around and buying stuff.  I bought Emma her first pair of Robeez shoes, Origins stuff for me, a $7 outfit from Gymboree for Emma, more girl stuff for me, and new Jack Purcells.  The best part was going to get a treat from Paradise Bakery.  I guess I got enough treats for myself that merited the salesgirl to offer me a bag with handles.  Man am I going to miss being pregnant. 

One of the reason's for going there was to check out the Rock Star stroller at Babystyle.  Oh course they didn't have it.  You can only order on-line.  The saleslady was very quick to give her opinion to Angelina and myself.  She let me know that it was not the Bugaboo ($900 stroller) and if I thought that's what I would be getting I was mistaken.  She also let me know that I would be getting a $499 stroller, like that was a bad thing.  I thanked her and we left quickly.  I didn't know a $499 stroller was a bad thing.  I guess that's the difference of Target and Babystyle. On the way home Angelina introduced me to the cutest kids store in Costa Mesa called Bassinet and Blueberries.  Again another rude salesgirl but the store was worth the stop.  I will be visiting it again.

Anyways the day ended with packing up the last of the Christmas decor, eating Soup, Salad, and Bakery from Hof's Hut in my pj's and watching the Golden Globes with Darrenn and Angelina.  It was a great day.  I am looking forward to doing it again soon!

I don't feel good!

I am going to take a moment to whine to you...I don't feel good.  I feel nauseous, tired, and have a headache.  So I am working from home today.  I am also a little overwhelmed about life right now so that might not be helping.  I am really missing Advil right now. 

New Year

Happy New Year to everyone. 

I know a lot of people do New Year's Resolutions, I am not one of them.  I think I get a little overwhelmed at the thought of not being able to accomplish it.  Instead I tend to set goals for myself and my ministry.  That way I am working on the goal (most of the time) but if I don't complete it by December 31st 2007, I can still continue working on it. 

Anyways, there are a couple of things I am really excited about in the New Year.  Of course, the new addition to our family!  But on a ministry level, Vacation Bible School.  I just got in the mail, our VBS tin.  Most of you are probably wondering what is a VBS tin?  It's just a cute tin, decorated in this years VBS theme, filled with all that you need to have a successful VBS.  This year's theme is Cowboy.  We are doing Group Publishing's, Avalanche Ranch.  It looks like it is going to be a lot of fun.  VBS is one of my favorite things that we do in Kid's Ministries!  We are having our first planning meeting Monday night at the Hub if anyone is interested.  It is an amazing week where you make a difference in kid's lives while they are having a ton of fun!
